With all that’s going on, I’m not sure I’m going to do a “Christmas” post this year. I’ll see - maybe I’ll decide to later. After Justine and I got back from Toronto (amazingly with zero flight issues!), we had a day at home before we headed to Galiano. With the ferry schedule, we had some time so decided to stop at Reifel on the way out to see what was going on at the sanctuary.

On Saturday afternoon, we had a bunch of running around to do and visits with some friends planned, all of which took us in the general direction of Delta. So we decided to go to Boundary Bay and go for a walk along the dyke and see what bird life we might find. It was a beautiful, sunny day, if a bit cold.

Earlier in October, Justine and I took a trip out to Reifel for a walk around, get some fresh air and see what birds were about. It was so long ago that I don’t really remember much about the day, so this post is photo heavy, without a lot of commentary.

I have a lot of posts ot catch up on, so this quick post on a September trip to Reifel will be almost all photos. We had decided to book a trip to Reifel for the day after the Fondo as a way to force us to get up and go for a walk, rather than just lying on the couch all day. It was a bit overcast, and there was not a lot going on, but it was still worth the visit.

An event almost 3 years in the making - we finally managed to complete the Gran Fondo from Vancouver to Whistler! This past Saturday, Justine, Nicole and I were up at the crack of dawn, gathered in Stanley Park and joined over 6,000 other crazy people in riding the 122 km up to Whistler. It was a tougher day than expected (more on that later), but we completed it, and enjoyed the day.

One of the days of the Celebration of Lights fireworks (the Canada entry, if memory serves me correctly), the Snowbirds did a flyover of Vancouver. We were fortunate enough to have a pretty good view from the roof.

Happy Canada Day! We had a fun and busy day that I thought I would share some pics from. Justine and I did a 40 km bike ride in the morning, then spent the afternoon with our friends Katie and John at their new place in Port Moody, before walking over to the Port Moody Canada Day festival to see my favorite band, 54-40! Great day!
Read MoreThe Return of Sports
One of the things we’ve missed most during COVID has been live sports. While we managed to see an event here or there, this year has really started to feel like things returning to normal a bit more. April was a real beginning for this - Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team, Rugby 7s and the return of the Whitecaps really cemented it all.

One of the chores we most look forward too each spring is cleaning the roof, and getting it ready for summer. It’s usually about a half day effort, pressure washing the roof, cleaning the glass and replanting flowers in the planters. Here are some pictures on the progress we’ve made!
Read MoreA Last Spring Flowers Post
If you’re not much into flowers, this probably isn’t the post for you… I made my first trip into the US for work, heading down to Bellevue for the day. As it’s that time of year, I took my time coming back and stopped in some of the Tulip Festival sites that run each spring. And while spring has been significantly delayed this year, the blossoms around the city have been amazing.

Spring is finally arriving! After what has felt like a very long winter, the spring blossoms have started to appear. I am way over due on some updates, so i will work on pulling a number of posts together, starting with this very quick one with lots of flowers from a walk around the neighborhood earlier this week!

One thing I have always wanted to try was brewing my own beer. It seemed like a good COVID project (we’ve certainly been drinking enough of it!), so we bought all the gear needed to make our first batch and try our hands at it.
Read MoreA First Visit to Reifel - with Simon
We had a break in the weather and booked a spot for a visit to Reifel - our first of the season! Our friend Simon decided to come along, and it wa sa first time visit for him, which was fun. We had nice blue skis, reasonable temperatures and most importantly no more snow on the ground to deal with. It had remained fairly cool, so there was still some ice on the ponds. Which gave us the always fun ducks-on-ice, but sadly meant it was overall a quiet day.
