Justine and I headed back to Ontario for Christmas and spent a lovely week visiting with family and friends. Rather than posting all the pics in this post, I’ll add a link to a Dropbox folder, and you can download what you’d like from there.

Saturday morning Justine and I headed down to the George C. Reifel Migratory bird sanctuary to see what was going on. It wa sa nice morning, if a bit cool, and a nice day for a walk. I’m not going to add much commentary but instead will just be a post with a lot of photos.

Saturday was a pretty quiet day - a lot of wandering around SoHo, then dinner at Vandal. Sunday was a short day, with our flight home in the early evening. But it was Marathon Sunday, and the New York City Marathon holds a special place in my heart.

Justine and I love going to New York City. There’s so many great things to do, so many cool places to go, and we’ve had some great trips over the years. And of course, we got engaged in New York, so there’s that memory that will always be very special. We had a busy long weekend planned, and both of us needed to get away and detach from work for a bit. As it was Halloween and the Marathon weekend, we had lots to do!

This weekend we headed over to Galiano to do some landscaping work. We had bought a number of trees over the last little while, and we wanted to get them in before we got too deep into winter. And of course, we spent some time doing some small hikes and watching for whales.

This is just a short post that’s a bit of a placeholder as I get through all the photos from the last month or so. It’s been a busy stretch, and I do have lots to share. In the meantime, here’s a quick one from this weekend. I’m currently training for the RBC Gran Fondo, which is a long distance bike race from Vancouver to Whistler. Justine and I did it back in 2011, but were not able to train for it properly that year. This time, I have been good about the training, and this weekend I did the longest ride I’ve ever done - 123 km, 2,100 m of elevation gain over 5 1/2 hours. I thought I’d share…

The final post from the summer road trip through Washington and Oregon. On the last stretch of the road trip we camped at the Gorge Amphitheater to see the Mumford and Sons concert, then headed to Portland for our annual Whitecaps away game, before taking a long day to work our way home along the coast. It was a great end to the trip.

A second post from our road trip into Washington and Oregon, with a focus on our last couple of days in Mount Rainier National Park. I’m slowly catching up on old posts - it’s still going to be a while. For our summer vacation this year, we did a road trip starting (sort of) on Galiano, then heading south through Washington and Oregon. We covered a lot of ground, and did a lot of fun things, so there are likely to be a few posts to cover it all.
