A First Visit to Reifel - with Simon

We had a break in the weather and booked a spot for a visit to Reifel - our first of the season! Our friend Simon decided to come along, and it wa sa first time visit for him, which was fun. We had nice blue skis, reasonable temperatures and most importantly no more snow on the ground to deal with. It had remained fairly cool, so there was still some ice on the ponds. Which gave us the always fun ducks-on-ice, but sadly meant it was overall a quiet day.

There were not a lot of super-interesting sightings (we were really hoping for owls), but there was enough going on that it still made for a nice day. It was good to get out and go for a walk in the sun, and I think Simon had a good time

We had a great day out in the sun, wandering Reifel. Good times!

Ducks on ice - always hilarious.

A juvenile bald eagle in one of the trees.

A pair of Northern Harriers dueling over the marsh.

I’m not sure the duck was as interested in the kiss…

The wood ducks always make for a great close up portrait.

The pair of wood ducks.

There were quite a few blue herons about in the marshes.

There were quite a few trumpeter swans out on the water.
