Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival

On Saturday, we snuck in a fun day out in the valley at the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival. We went with our friend Katie, who had done this tour a couple of years ago with her parents and raved about it. We booked a tour on boat that goes up the Fraser River to a spot where thousands of bald eagles come in to feed during migration every year. We weren't disappointed.

Portland, Bend and a Fun Mountain Biking Trip

Last week Justine and I took some time off to do a road trip down into Oregon to do some mountain biking around Bend, Oregon. We made a stop in Portland on the way down, had four days in Bend, and then a long drive home on the holiday Monday. We rode some of the best trails in the area, did a day in a bike park, spent some time with friends from back east and generally had an amazing time!

Backcountry Camping at Garibaldi Lake

This summer, Justine and I are planning to do a series of backcountry hiking/camping, with a goal of doing a few days on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). We've both done this before, but it's been a while, so we decide to start with something easy to test out our gear, and make sure everything was set. Lava Hikes and Waterfalls

We had an incredible last full day on the Big Island. We got to see the lava fountain into the ocean; watched an active lava flow creep across the island, and walked on lava that had hardened less than 10 minutes earlier. Then we drove some of the incredible coast, and stopped at some amazing waterfalls. We wrapped up our day at Volcano House, and had dinner in the glow of the crater.
