A short post on a fun hike that I did with my friend Bill up on Cypress Mountain. It had been months since we had managed to catch up, so we were long overdue. We met up after work one day and headed up Cypress for a walk in the woods and then some dinner at this great lookout afterwards.
The map of our hike - just over 7 km, not bad for a weeknight.
The hike we chose was up in the nordic ski trails on Cypress mountain. We started in the main parking lot near the road, and there were very few cars, which was great. We headed up into the forest, passing by the main hut for the cross country ski area (and snowshoeing) and generally just randomly picking trails that looked interesting. There are a fair number of them back there, and it would be pretty hard to get too lost. We passed a few small waterfalls, (mostly dry) streams and a couple of small lakes. It’s mostly an excuse for us to catch up and get some fresh air.
After getting back to the car, we drove down the mountain and stopped at this “pop-up” restaurant that they have installed at the site of a new development that will be built over the coming years. It has stunnign view back over to Vancouver, and great pizza.
