I got back from Barcelona around midday on Friday. The trip home was fine and I powered through to stay up until a normal bedtime. Saturday morning we were headed over to Galiano to see how spring was unfolding and to start planting some of the early seeds. We only had a couple of days, but it’s always nice to head over.
While not on Galiano, there is a big magnolia tree just down the road from our house that is always early, and has the most spectacular blossoms. Justine snagged this photo earlier in the week.
I’m not sure how many people outside of Vancouver (sorry, I know it’s still winter for most of you!) really want to see the spring flowers, but I’ll share anyways…
One of the main reasons to head over this weekend was to start planting the garden. I got some seeds in the ground - radishes and peas mostly. As we were working in the garden, Justine found this little guy!
And in the orchard, there are signs of life on the fruit trees!
On Sunday, we headed out for a hike down to Cable Bay from the end of Bodega Beach drive. It was a beautiful day and we were hoping to catch some wildlife action from the shoreline. That part didn’t really pay off - no sea lions or whales, but we did see lots of eagles and ravens. There was a seal carcass in Cable Bay and they were all feeding on it. It was a bit too far away for pictures and we didn’t want to disturb lunch!
The map of our hike.
We’ve been working our way through (very slowly) our latest Logo project, a classic Land Rover Defender. We made some good progress this weekend - it’s almost done!
