This post is a bit of a catch all from the rest of September. We had a really busy stretch with some fun things going on in the city, as well as more trips over to Galiano as we tried to keep everything alive as we head into drought season. We had Celebration of Lights (fireworks), a fly over by the Snowbirds, a Vancouver Canadians game with Alex and Matt and those trips to the island.

A short post on a fun hike that I did with my friend Bill up on Cypress Mountain. It had been months since we had managed to catch up, so we were long overdue. We met up after work one day and headed up Cypress for a walk in the woods and then some dinner at this great lookout afterwards.

In early July, we had a visit on Galiano from some of Justine’s friends from Ontario. Mark and Katherine, and their kids Claire and Julia were doing a summer trip to the west coast and had decided to stay at an AirBnB on Galiano for a weekend. We were of course happy to play host for their visit and show them our island.

I will get back to the Maritime Adventures, but we had a fun day in the city yesterday, so it seemed like I should do a quick post! Staying ahead for a change. We had a beautiful Saturday, where we crammed in a lot of activities - there was the Khatsailano Street festival, followed by a free concert at the beach by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra! And I found a few photos from June on my camera that I had lost track of and thought I should share.

I had almost a week between jobs with Canada Day in the middle. We were spending most of it on Galiano, and there was lots to do! Alex and Matt were coming to spend a few days with us over the weekend, which meant we would be able to relax and have some fun, for part of it at least!

After the excitement of graduation day, we still had a couple of days to explore Halifax before we were heading out of the city. We had Saturday with the Harrisons and then Sunday we were meeting Mitchell to explore the Citadel. The weather was not looking promising, but we’d make the best of it and see as much as we could!

Friday was the main purpose for this trip - Alex’s graduation from Dalhousie Law School! We are so proud of her and very honoured to be invited to celebrate this incredible achievement with her and her family. We had an amazing day, one we will not soon forget!
Read MoreA Visit with Risa!
This post is a bit all over the place - some random, fun activities, but mainly centered around a visit from our friend Risa! Risa and I worked together back when I first moved to Vancouver, and we have been great friends ever since. Risa and her husband Jeff moved back to Ontario four years ago, which means we have not seen then as much as we would like. Last week was Risa’s birthday and she was in town and we were lucky enough for her to stay with us over the weekend. And it meant we had a chance for some fun adventures.
Read MoreA Short Trip to Pune
The year is off to a busy start. I had originally planned to go to Pune in November, but after my knee surgery got scheduled, I had to push it into January. I was there for only a week, with a very busy agenda and a lot to cover. There was not much time for personal activities, but we did have a holiday on the Tuesday, so there is a bit to share from the hike we did.
