This is a bit of a catch up post, but we had a last trip to Galiano before heading back to Ontario for Christmas. We wanted to make sure we were keeping up with the projects on the island, and had one short weekend to fit in a few things.

This post is a bit of a catch up. There’s been lots going on over the last month or so with no downtime to write it all down or post. We’ve been doing lots around the city, I took a week off from work to head over to Galiano to catch up on some projects and as part of that trip was able to swing by Victoria for a day and a half to catch up with some friends. It’s been busy but fun!

Through the end of August and the first weekend of September, we were spending our longest stretch so far this year on Galiano. While we were working during the week, we had two full weekends, including the long weekend to enjoy island time. On the long weekend we were doing our annual Panorama Lane Party with all the neighbors! And with Dana and Bradley hosting, it was guaranteed to be an event!

In the summer, we like to spend as much time on Galiano as we can. With the addition of StarLink we’ve been able to work from the cottage, which has meant that we can also stay for longer stretches. This trip was two full weekends, bookended around the week of work. It meant we were able to tackle a few projects and also that we were lucky enough to catch up with some friends that came to visit Galiano.

On Canada Day, we had a little excursion over to Saturna Island with our friend David and his family for their annual Canada Day Lamb BBQ! It was a great day on the water, as David picked us up in Sturdies Bay and we boated over to Saturna and spent a lovely day celebrating Canada Day!

I had a quick trip back to Ontario to visit with both of my families (after my work trip to Florida), and then we had a nice stretch on Galiano. There was a weekend in Squamish mountain biking squeezed in there as well. Lots of fun!

On Friday night I had bought us tickets to Whiskey and Words, a fundraising event for the Vancouver Writers Fest, before heading to Galiano on Saturday morning for a long overdue trip. We stayed through Tuesday night getting lots of projects done around the cottage, before heading home to spring finally arriving. Wednesday night we went for a nice walk and had an amazing sunset.

Our plan after returning from Ontario was to spend a few days recharging on Galiano before jumping back into work for the New Year. One of the neighbors on the Lane were hosting a New Year’s Eve party, and we had lots of work to tackle on the property. But we also wanted to carve out some time to relax and explore.
