Vacation Recap - Magog

This recap post is focused on the part of the trip in and around Magog. As before, it’s mostly the better photos from my camera to augment the larger post of the trip that I did as the trip progressed.

Looking our over the lake from the main promenade in Magog. The mountain in the distance is Owl’s Head ski resort.

The first set of photos is from Abbaye de Saint-Benoît-du-Lac. We had a nice morning checking out the impressive building, as well as picking up some excellent products (cider and cheese) in their shop. Cool spot.

One morning we went for a walk through a conservation area right near the hotel. It lead first through some nice forest (but way too many bugs!), then through a marsh land. We managed to see so many new birds!

Time for the birds…

As an aside, the Merlin Bird app with it;s song ID is amazing. Many of these I wouldn’t have seen if we hadn’t been using it, learned that there was something interesting in the area, and stopped to look more closely. Justine is much better with song ID than I am, but the app really helps and when you see something like the sparrows, knowing that you’ve ID the right one from its song is such a big help!

As we headed back to Montreal, we stopped to check out a couple of cool, old covered bridges.
