I’m not going to do a post from being back in Ontario over Christmas - I didn’t really take many of my own photos, and most of you were there for all of it. Instead, I’ll put a wrap on the 2018 posts with a quick wrap up of the last week of the year - and then it will be on to 2019!
Read MoreChristmas Around Vancouver
December was a crazy month for us this year. I suppose it is most years, but this year seemed busier than most. We did have one nice day where Justine and I got to relax and wander around the city, soaking up some of the Christmas spirit.
Read MoreA Wander Down at Boundary Bay
We had Ethan and Addison stay with us last weekend, which was fun as always. We packed quite a bit into a couple of days, including a short walk down at Boundary Bay.
Read MoreJustine's Birthday on Galiano
For Justine’s birthday, we spent the Remembrance Day long weekend on Galiano. We rented a small cabin right on the water, and spent the weekend working on the property (OK well not much), hiking, bird watching and generally enjoying ourselves. We also managed to finally get to Pilgrimme for Justine’s birthday dinner.

Another catch-up post as I finally get through some older photos. We had another nice weekend day, so we headed down to Reifel to see what was going on. The snow geese were back, which always makes for a fun day.
Read MoreA Nice Fall Day at Reifel
I am over a month behind on posts. This one, like many of the recent ones will not have much more than some (hopefully) nice photos from an afternoon walk around Reifel.

Back at the end of September, we went over to Galiano with some friends for the weekend. I completely lost track of this one and getting it up on the website.

A long overdue post on Lisa and Ethan’s last day with us from the end of the summer.
Read MoreWhale Watching - at Spanish Banks?!?!
While Lisa and Ethan were in town, we booked a whale watching trip so they could (hopefully) see some orcas. Not only did we see them, the boat ride was less than 5 minutes as they were in English Bay, right off the beach near Spanish Banks!

Wednesday was our last full day in Hood River, as we had decided to make the drive home on Thursday. We wanted to get one more road ride in, and decided on our other usual route, the "Fruit Loop" We followed up our ride with some great food and relaxing in a few of the breweries down near the water in Hood River.
Read MoreHiking the Cooper Spur Trail
On Tuesday we took a short break from road riding and decided to do a hike instead. We picked the Cooper Spur trail up Mount Hood, as the smoke from all the forest fires started to roll in. It ended up being the last view of any mountain that we had this trip.

Portland - Markets and the Whitecaps Game
The main reason we had come to Portland (besides the fact that we really like it there) was to attend the Whitecaps game against the Portland Timbers. This will have been 3 out of 4 years for me (we missed last year), and it’s always a good time. The game was a later start (8:00), so we had the whole day to explore. It ended up being a markets day, which was a lot of fun.

Our Annual Washington/Oregon Road Trip - Pearl Jam
Pretty much every year since we’ve been together, Justine and I have done a road trip down to Washington State and Oregon. This year was no different, except that we managed to arrange the trip around a couple of major events - Pearl Jam playing a live show at home at Safeco Field, and the Whitecaps playing their annual away game in Portland. So we decided to take those two events and add a stop in Hood River for a few days of camping and road riding.

Our First Night at Bard on the Beach
Each summer, we like to head down to Vanier Park and attend at least one of the Bard at the Beach plays. It’s always a good evening out, and this season they have 3 plays going that I want to see. Our first one was Timon of Athens, which was a play I had not seen previously.

Our First Night on our New Property
Another slight departure from Alaska photos - they’re taking a long time to get through! Last weekend Justine and I spent our first night on the new property - camping! We wanted to spend the weekend, so we thought we’d try camping, rather than paying for an AirBnB or other rental.
Read MoreThe Last Day of the Cruise
This post is long overdue and wraps up our 7-day Alaskan cruise. Our last day was spent going through the inside passage between Vancouver Island and the mainland. The weather wasn't great, but we spent most of our waking hours on our balcony, watching the scenery flow by and watching for wildlife.
