I was home on Saturday - well in the UK anyway. Saturday morning i was up bright and early to get on a train to meet my friends Mark and Rachel to go for a "country walk". Not allowed to call it hiking, or the people back in Vancouver will laugh at me...
We stopped along the way to pick up their friends Shiv and Paul, whom I had not met previously. Saturday was a fabulous day - warm and sunny (yes, in the UK, in April...) - and I planned on taking full advantage of it.
Mark had planned for an 11 mile country walk near the town on Battle - apparently where the Battle of Hastings took place in 1066. Very famous, if you know your British history, which I don't. The town is out in the Kent countryside, southwest of London. It took us about an hour to drive out there, and we were off.
It was a great day all around - the walk was very pleasant, and not very tough. We saw a little bit of wildlife (pheasant) and the spring flowers, especially the bluebells were out in full bloom. The weather, as mentioned was awesome and the food and beer at the pub during the walk was good. All in all, a fine day. And I got a bit of a sunburn on top of it all.
I'm off to Madrid in the morning for a couple of days. I still have to figure out pictures from the earlier posts, but I have so many to go through, and just haven't had the time.
