The Roof Deck is Finally Open!

A quick post today - the roof deck is finally open! It’s taken quite a few days, a bit at a time and with lots of different projects along the way, but we finally have everythign out and we’re ready for summer!

The deck is all set-up and ready for summertime! It took us a long time this year to get there.

Normally we get the roof deck opened over a weekend - we pick a nice one, push through and get everything done in one go. This year was a bit different. The weather hasn’t helped a lot, as it’s been fairly cold. We did the pressure washing almost a month ago, but never got a good stretch of clear warm weather to get the cushions out for the couch. This past weekend, that all changed.

For the past three years we’ve said we need to replace the BBQ. Ours was 12 years old and more rust than anything else. I had been dreading pulling it apart and trying to get it out of the house without making a complete mess. On Saturday we went over to Home Depot to pick up a few plants that we needed to flesh out the planters. We were looking at the BBQs - we had decided on the model we wanted - when a very helpful guy in the store offered us a really good deal on last year’s model. Sold! So we got it home and Saturday we spent the day pulling apart the old one. We did pretty well, getting it into manageable pieces and eventually out and down to the truck. We got a bunch of the flowers planted, and Sunday we put the new BBQ together.

We had a Whitecaps game Sunday afternoon, plus it was threatening to rain, so we decide to leave the last piece - the cushions for the couch. The rain never came, and so Monday after work I lugged the cushions up from the storage locker and finished the set-up!
