Jane Goodall and a Pop of Colour

Just to torment the fine folks back east that follow my blog, a photo collage of the spring blossoms that are everywhere right now, here in Vancouver. Springtime is lovely. But first, and evening with Jane Goodall…

We spent an evening with Jane Goodall (and Jan Arden)

We few month back, Justine noticed that Jane Goodall was coming to Vancouver to do a speaking engagement at the Queen Elizabeth Theater in downtown Vancouver. I’m sure most of you know who Jane Goodall is, but for those that don’t, Jane Goodall was born in 1934, in London, and is a renowned British primatologist and ethologist. She is best known for her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees in Tanzania's Gombe Stream National Park, which began in 1960. Goodall discovered that chimpanzees make and use tools, challenging previous assumptions about human uniqueness. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to support wildlife research, conservation, and education. Goodall has received numerous awards, and her work continues to inspire efforts in animal welfare and environmental conservation.

We learned a lot about her life and her conservation messages during the talk, but the most amazing thing is that at 91, she still travels 300 days a year working for her charities and promoting her conservation messages. She’s a powerful speaker and it was good to listen to her. Very motivational.

I enjoyed the evening and was very glad that we made the time to go see her.

Tuesday evening was beautiful, so after work Jus and I went out for a walk to get some exercise and enjoy the lovely spring evening. I took the camera along and thought I would share some spring colour with everyone.

West 7th Ave, justa bove our place. The cherry trees are not quite out in full blossom yet. But it’s close.

Spring is in the air - even for ladybugs.

I’ve had a very busy couple of weeks, with lots to share. I’ll try and get more posts up before I have to head out on my work trip next week!
