for the second leg of our trip, we headed east to Prince Edward County, as they were going to be in the path of totality, and by great coincidence, our friends Risa and Jeff live in the area! So we could watch the eclipse and get caught up. The other cool opportunity was to spend some time at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, where Risa has been volunteering. So yes, be prepared for lots of bird pics…

This year, there was another solar eclipse, with totality able to be seen across some parts of Southern Ontario. As it happened, our friend’s Risa and Jeff’s home was sitting right under the path of the totality. So that seemed like the perfect excuse to plan a trip - total solar eclipse and a chance to visit family and friends.
Read MoreEaster Long Weekend on Galiano
I’m going to have to make this one quick - we’re headed to Ontario for our Solar Eclipse trip tomorrow evening. That said, we had a very busy and productive weekend on Galiano over Easter, so I thought I’d share a few photos of the progress being made.
Read MoreLas Vegas - the Sphere and the Arts District
My previous post from our trip to Las Vegas was starting to get a bit long, so I thought I’d post it and pick up the details from the weekend in a separate post. We still had Saturday and Sunday to enjoy our mini vacation and we had lots on the go. We were visiting Las Vegas’ most recent attraction - The Sphere - and then we spent a day exploring the Arts District, where the locals hang out to get away from the Strip.
Read MoreLas Vegas and Bruce Springsteen
This past weekend we flew down to Las Vegas for a fun weekend of music and escape from the Vancouver winter. We did not get the weather we had hoped for, and the trip ended up being a day longer than we had planned, but the main event, Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band at T-Mobile Arena was everything I have been imagining and hoping for, for the better part of 40 years. There’s lots to cover…

I am a bit overdue on a new update, and while nothing really interesting has happened, there has been a lot of smaller things going on. So I thought I’d try and wrap it all up in one post and share a few photos and some updates. I’m not really sure how this one is going to work out, but let’s get into it and see how it goes…
Read MoreHiking in Squamish
Over the long weekend we headed up to Squamish to do a day hike at the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola. We were hoping to go snowshoeing, but with this winter being what it is, there’s hardly any snow, even at elevation. So we met our friend Nicole at the gondola and deaded up to see what we would find!
Read MoreA Quite Day at Boundary Bay
We were out running some errands are were close enough to Delta to make it worthwhile heading a little further out to go for a walk along the dyke at Boundary Bay. We’ve had lots of luck there, and while the time of day wasn’t great, we figured it was worth it, even just to get in a bit of a walk.

After a quick stop in France, it was onwards for the main part of my trip. I was kicking off a big project that the team in India was taking the lead on, and I needed to spend some time and work with them. I was going to be in the office for a week, arriving Friday and staying through the following Saturday. While there was not a lot of time for sightseeing, there were a few interesting things to share.
Read MoreA Quick Stop in Toulouse on the way to India
I was headed to India for work, and as I was traveling through Europe to get there, it was quite inexpensive to add a stop in Toulouse along the way. It had been quite a long time since my last trip to Toulouse, so it seemed like a good idea to stop in and see the team and to have a chance to meet up with some old friends.

Starting on Tuesday night, we got a serious blast of winter. By the time it was all done with, we apparently got 28cm of snow, making it something like the 4th biggest single day snowfall in the city’s recorded history. On Wednesday, we got out for a walk in the afternoon, as it was still coming down, to enjoy the snow. We don’t get a lot, and it is a bit magical when we do.

With my long trip to France and India coming up, we needed to head over to Galiano to check up on things. We were also about to have our first real blast of winter, and we wanted to make sure the place was holding up to the cold temperatures. We had planned to go over Friday night, but the weather was rough and the ferries got cancelled. Justine was on the bal and had booked a second ferry for Saturday morning, so we got there a day later than we had planned. And yes, winter had arrived…

After arriving back from Toronto, we had one quick day at home to unpack and get things organized before we headed over to Galino for New Year’s Eve. We were staying for a few days into the new year which was unseasonably warm but gave us an opportunity to get out and do a few things and continue some projects around the property.
