A Quite Day at Boundary Bay

We were out running some errands are were close enough to Delta to make it worthwhile heading a little further out to go for a walk along the dyke at Boundary Bay. We’ve had lots of luck there, and while the time of day wasn’t great, we figured it was worth it, even just to get in a bit of a walk.

I had the all wrong lens on the camera for taking landscape photos, but it was a clear day and you could see all the snow on Mount Baker.

It was a bout noon when we arrived, so not the best time of day for searching for birds. But it was clear, the sun was trying to come out, so it seemed liek as good a time as any to head out for a bit of a walk. It was eerily quiet - no birds at all. We had seen some eagles around, and one lone harrier out over the fields, but almost nothing else.

It was really quiet out over the marsh.

The pop of red out at the edge of the water caught my attention - but it was only some buoys that has gotten away.

There was one lone harrier that we saw the whole walk. Normally you see many of them, but this one was the only one about. It stayed quite a distance away for the most part, but I did grab a few decent shots.

As I said - it was quiet. The highlight of the day was a mature bald eagle that settled into a tree near the path and was not all that perturbed by people being nearby.

The map of our walk is not very exciting.

And I’m afraid that it’s. It was a super quiet day, and generally not very exciting. I am working through details from my trip to France and India, and will hopefully get a few details from that trip up soon.
