I’ve been really slow in going through photos and video and getting posts up on the site. I’m trying to catch up, but it’s slow going!
For much of July, we spent quite a bit of time with the Bookbinders, as Ethan’s baseball season was coming to an end and we wanted to watch him play, and Justine’s Mom and Dad finally got out to Vancouver for the first time in almost 2 years.
Ethan has become quite a good baseball player over the past couple of years, and this summer we finally had a chance to watch him play. We managed to get to the final game of of his “regular season”, as he wrapped up playing in his local league.
After that league wrapped up, he was asked to play on the team for the part of North Vancouver that they live in (Lynn Valley), to play in the provincial championships (9-10 year olds). Justine and I managed to get to a few games, and their team was awesome and won their way into the Provincial Championship tournament. That tournament, as it turns out, was hosted in Dunbar, which is fairly close to where we live (well compared ot driving to North Van anyway…)
While they were in town, we got a chance to spend a fair bit of time all together, which was nice. Stu and Tammy were nice enough to have us out to Jericho a couple of times. Fun at the beach!
Ethan and his team played great in the tournament, only losing 1 game and eventually winning the whole thing! They are the 9-10 Provincial Champions! It was all very exciting to watch, and the kids played amazing.
Congrats Ethan! You played great, and it was so much fun to watch!
For the last few days that Justine’s Mom and Dad were in Vancouver, we took them over to Galiano to see the progress we had made and to relax after the hectic week of baseball excitement. We took the ferry over on Sunday afternoon, staying for a couple of days before coming back home on Tuesday afternoon, before they flew back to Toronto on Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday morning, I got the drone out and did a bit of flying with it to capture some video of the property.
After returning to Vancouver on Tuesday afternoon, the rest of the Bookbinder crew came over to our place to have dinner on the roof before Michael and Maureen had to head home the next morning. It was a bit tight, but it was great having everyone together. It had been a long time.
