Saturday morning we got up at a reasonable time, and headed over to the surf shop to get geared up for our day on the beach. Justine had rented us gear for the day, and we ended up out surfing twice, with a break for lunch.
After wrapping up our afternoon surf, Justine and I went on a bit of a search for live crab. It was a bit more challenging than we were expecting, but eventually we found them, and we had a bit of a feast that evening.
Sunday the waves were a it bigger, but Justine and I decided against surfing and instead planned on doing some exploring while Alex and Fergus surfed some more. Before heading our separate ways, e had brunch at the Wickaninnish, the very posh resort at the north end of Chesterman beach. The waves were pretty crazy, and some of the surfers were putting on a good show.
Justine and I headed back south into the park and did a few short hikes on some of the trails. We explored one of the closed beaches, where you could just make a huge colony of sea lions on one of the offshore rocks, then stopped at the rainforest trail. This was pretty cool - not a long trail, but it took you through some old growth on this great boardwalk. It was a fun little outing.
Our last stop was a short one at Long Beach. The sun was starting to set, and most people had abandoned the beach for the day. The surf was pretty far out, and we were treated to a glimpse of the sun.
