Saturday was another spectacular day of our long weekend, with more sunshine and warm temperatures. I went for a run in the morning, then Justine and I spent a bit of time at the market around lunch time. Later in the afternoon we headed over to English Bay for the final night of the Celebration of Light, featuring Italy.
We took the small ferry across False Creek over to English Bay. It was ab out 7:30, but the place was already pretty busy. We managed to avoid all the food stalls and made our way over to the beach to check out the music. There were two bands left on the agenda for the balance of the day as part of ShoreFest.
We spent a couple of hours lying on the beach, listening to bands and enjoying the last light of the afternoon. We took off from the beach and headed back from the beach a bit to find a good place to take some pictures of the fireworks.
The fireworks show by Italy was pretty good. Not as good as Brazil's show, but still quite good. They took a very different approach to the show, but once again we couldn't hear the music they choice, so it's a bit hard to know what they were going for. The real downside to the evening was the lack of wind. On Wednesday night there was a pretty good breeze, which takes the smoke from the fireworks away. On Saturday, it was completely calm, and the smoke just hung in the air. It did make for some interesting photos, but generally it takes something away from the show.
