Another old post that I never got to…

Our friends Katie and John came to visit us on Galiano over the weekend. On the Saturday, we decide to make our second trip on David’s boat, and thought we’d try a bit of a longer journey. We decide to try crossing the channel to go to Salt Spring Island and check out the famous Saturday Market.

We were much better at getting the boat in the water this time. Backing up was much more successful, and the higher tide certainly helped.

The trip over was a little tougher than we would have liked. The wind was stronger than would be ideal, and there was a lot of waves. We were all pretty much drenched by the time we got to Salt Spring. I think we now have a maximum wind level that we’ll want to watch for when taking the boat out.

The market is quite a bit larger than the one on Galiano, with lots of craft vendors as well as a lot of farmer’s stalls. The produce looked amazing.

We only had a couple of hours at the public dock, but we got to explore the whole market and there were a few purchases made.

Thankfully the ride back was a little better than the ride over. We still got pretty wet, but the wind direction was different, and we were unscathed (for the most part).
