A Quick Break from Alaska

Taking a quick break from Alaska to post a few quick photos that I took tonight from the roof.

A few months ago, I received a new camera that I had order from a Kick Starter that I was interested in. The camera is dedicated to astrophotography, and is supposed to be able to get great photos of the moon, the Milky Way and other things in the night sky. I've always liked that aspect of photography so I thought I'd try it out.

I haven't been anywhere where the night sky has been dark enough, or interesting enough. And I just haven't really had time. Tonight, Venus was sitting right beside a crescent moon in the sky, so I thought I'd try it out. Not bad results I think, for the first attempt.

Venus, sitting right below the crescent moon. This is with the lens that comes with the camera, which I think isn't very good.

Similar shot, but with my good lens attached with an adapter. I think the quality is better.

With my big lens, zoomed all the way in on the moon. I don't think I got the focus quite right, but it's hard this zoomed in.

Anyway, it was a first try with minimal time spent working at it. Hopefully we'll get some dark skies on one of our next trips and I can try the Milky Way.
