I'm so far behind on getting posts up on the blog, that I'm going to use this one to collect some random photos that don't really have a home, or need a post on their own.
The end of my two week work trip to Europe ended as it usually does, in Toulouse. I was there for a week of work, but happened to coincide with one of the biggest festival days in France - "Music Day". It was mid-week, but they had the main square shut down as they were doing a national broadcast from this huge stage they set-up, with some big national bands. But the best part was that throughout the whole city, there were local performers set-up at every bar, and on many street corners just doing their own thing. All of the bars and restaurants were open and serving food and drinks, and you could wander around enjoying the street performances and the amazing atmosphere.
I had a trade show in San Francisco in early September. As is the usual for these types of trips, it was pretty uneventful. Lots of long days, and trying to keep up with work. My coworker Cyrus and I did manage to get out one night and catch a SF Giants baseball. Cyrus had never been to a major league game, and I had never been to AT&T park. It was a pretty good game - Cyrus even ended up with a foul ball!
Pretty much every year, 54-40 play a show at the Fabulous Commodore Ballroom over Thanksgiving weekend. This year, I was amazed and thrilled that the Lowest of the Low, another of my all-time favorite bands, was going to be the opening act. This has been a great year for concerts!
I was ata trade show in Philadelphia for part of the week, and when I was out on my run came place this excellently neamed restaurant.
We attended the Roger Waters concert at Rogers Arena last night. It was a great show, with lots of Pink Floyd songs mixed into the set. As always, with this act, it was a visual extravaganza.
I was in Minneapolis for a few days to meet with some Customers and Partners. My hotel was not too far from the huge new football stadium where they will be hosting the SuperBowl in February.
I had a week-long trip across the us (LA, Orlando, Denver), and was flying home Friday evening, after some meetings in the morning. As i had some time to kill, I was looking for something interesting to do. I didn't really have enough time to do a full hike, but I found the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, which was very close to the airport and had some easy walking trails, as well as a driving route that took about an hour. It was pretty nice, despite the time of year. I managed to see all the main residents - prairie dogs, deer and bison. Always cool to see bison. Sorry about the crappy photos - all taken with my phone, as I didn't have a real camera with me.
