2015 Women's World Cup Final

A while back, Justine was really smart and ordered us tickets to the final game of the 2015 Women's World Cup. We had been to a game already, and the atmosphere about the city for the event had been really great. Of course, we had hoped that Canada might make the final, but that was not to be.

The game itself ended up not being that great - it was over by the 16 minute mark - and the US fans were very annoying, but still it was fun to be there and we had a good time. I only had my iPhone, so the pictures are only OK at best.

As I'm sure you've heard, we've had a really hot, dry start to the summer after a winter with very little snow. So in this part of the world, that means forest fires. There are a couple big ones going within a few hours drive of the city, and as I mentioned in the last post I woke Sunday to crazy smoke in the city. It had gotten worse over the course of the day, and you could even see it in the dome. After leaving the game, we were shocked to see that the smoke was so heavy you couldn't even see the buildings downtown any longer. And it smelled like a camp fire everywhere.

This is the craziest thing I've ever seen in the city, and unless we get some rain soon, this isn't going to end.
