On Saturday, we snuck in a fun day out in the valley at the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival. We went with our friend Katie, who had done this tour a couple of years ago with her parents and raved about it. We booked a tour on boat that goes up the Fraser River to a spot where thousands of bald eagles come in to feed during migration every year. We weren't disappointed.

Read MoreBackcountry Camping at Garibaldi Lake
This summer, Justine and I are planning to do a series of backcountry hiking/camping, with a goal of doing a few days on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). We've both done this before, but it's been a while, so we decide to start with something easy to test out our gear, and make sure everything was set. We decided to do one night up at Garibaldi Lake, which is a beautiful setting, and only about 9.5 km from the parking lot. Mind you, that's all uphill...

Despite how busy things have been, we decided to head up to Whistler for the day, for what will probably be the last day of skiing for the season. It ended up being a great day - 17 cm of fresh powder and an early start made for some great runs.
Read MoreA Late Start to the Ski Season
This week kicked off our participation in the ski season - way late really, especially since we've received such a large amount of snow early on. Being away over Christmas meant we missed a lot of good powder days, so we'll try and make up for it over the next couple of months.
